However, as a Member of European Economic Area (EEA), opted to converge to the regulatory model introduced by the European TPD-II.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-1 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:32;line-height:1.5;\">Iceland and vaping<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p>In Iceland the arrival of the e-cigarette has led to a significant reduction in the smoking rate. In 2014, 14% of the 330,000 inhabitants were smokers; in 2017 this number dropped to 9%. Currently vapers are approx 4% of the population.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:32;line-height:1.5;\">Act 87\/2018 on electronic cigarettes<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p>Recently the Iceland Government has been the world\u2019s first government to pass an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.althingi.is\/lagas\/nuna\/2018087.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Act<\/a> specific to electronic cigarettes, with no ties to tobacco regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The Act applies to electronic cigarettes and refill containers for electronic cigarettes, irrespective of whether or not they contain nicotine and entered into force in 2019.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:32;line-height:1.5;\">Requirements<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p>So electronic cigarettes and vaping products must comply with European and national obligations, among which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>notification: manufacturers and importers send to the Consumer Agency a series of information on the products to be marketed following the european common format; the same applies to independent components to be used for e-cigarette equipment;<\/li>\n<li>registration fee;<\/li>\n<li>transitional period;<\/li>\n<li>packaging requirements (health warnings and they are accompanied by directions on their use and storage);<\/li>\n<li>requirements for CE marking (EMC, LVD and RoHS2);<\/li>\n<li>safety mechanisms (Childproof, leakproof,&#8230;);<\/li>\n<li>restrictions on ingredients (max nicotine concentration, banned additives,..).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/staging-vaping.trusticert.com\/en\/contacts\/\">Contact us<\/a> to deepen the Iceland\u2019 s vaping regulation<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">mins<\/span><\/span>Iceland is not a European Union Member State.
