Nic salts e-liquids began to spread in 2018 and their popularity has been growing rapidly all over the world, especially in the UK and the US.<\/p>\n

As nic salts continue to gain popularity, the number of flavor options continues to increase. Some e-liquids companies have recreated many of their top-selling flavors into salt nic options and many nicotine salt manufacturers create new flavors at a high rate. The main online US and UK retailers have more than 400 nic salts on their catalogue.<\/p>\n

Nic salts vs free nicotine<\/h3><\/div>\n

Most vaping e-liquids use freebase nicotine, which works great for many vapers, but it is very alkaline and can irritate the throat. The high alkalinity also muddles some e-juice flavors. Nicotine salt e juice works differently: it has a much lower alkalinity than freebase nicotine leaving it smoother on vapers’ throats and cleaner tasting.
\nIt is curious to notice that most of the nicotine in tobacco leaves is present in the form of salts and not as free nicotine. Free nicotine is indeed an invention of tobacco companies to make nicotine reach faster the central nervous system. The absorption of nic salts can be up to 20 times faster than the one of free nicotine in e-liquids and the satisfaction deriving from the intake is more similar to that of a traditional cigarette.<\/p>\n

Nic salts: some faetures<\/h3><\/div>\n

The most common salt is nicotine benzoate. Before using liquids with nicotine benzoate it is important to make sure that you are not sensitive or even allergic to benzoic acid.
\nDevices designed to work with nicotine salts differ from the others in the market because they vaporize the liquid at temperatures below 200\u00b0C: it is just beyond this threshold that substances that are harmful to the body begin to develop. Using liquids with nicotine salts in open devices can hence be a very risky health practice.<\/p>\n

Producers of nicotine salts e-liquid must pay attention to the effective concentration of nicotine: indeed, there have been cases of nic salts reported on RAPEX (Rapid Alert System for dangerous non-food products, the system the European Commission has set up to monitor the safety of the products sold for free consumption) exceeding nicotine TPD max concentration of 20 mg\/ml.
\nFurthermore, from a regulatory point of view, nicotine salts are considered dangerous substances for which an harmonized classification has been adopted at European Union level.<\/p>\n
